Exclusive preview from 'Destroying Fantasies'
"Mr Everton, I assure you, Will is the real deal. The story as it stands right now is solid and I'm sure it will do well among readers. It's set to appeal across the gender and demographic divide, housewives, young career women, angry middle aged men."
Adam Everton looked coolly at the enthusiastic blonde trying to sell him her client's manuscript. He'd read it and was impressed but the publishing business was based on such razor thin margins these days, he couldn't afford to take the risk. Still, though he couldn't exactly place a finger on it but the book appealed to him. It struck a chord in that dark part of his psyche, the part that never allowed him to forget his dad's slow death over the years.
The old man had effectively died the day she left him. Till this day, Adam couldn't bring himself to refer to that woman as 'mom'. No, mom died the day that woman turned her back on the two crying kids held back by a sobbing man who was on his knees on their front porch begging her not to abandon their family, their marriage for that asshole who didn't even care what he was destroying. That woman had cried and professed her love for them even as she abandoned them.
Adam winced and blocked out the pain that inevitably followed those memories. The years of pain and anger that his old man felt and carried was all that Adam focused on. The many attempts that woman had made to reconcile with her estranged family only made Adam angrier when he recalled how his father lapsed into drink every time that woman contacted them. She wouldn’t even let up when his dad was on his death bed. Adam refused to acknowledge the fact that his father had requested the presence of his ex-wife or that the sad smile on the old man's face directed at his unfaithful wife before he closed his eyes for the last time.
The anger burning in his gut brought Adam out of the reverie he'd fallen into. That it reflected the pain he'd clearly felt in the words of the manuscript sealed the deal. Not a man given to impulse, Adam nevertheless decided to go with his gut feelings.
"Look, I'm going to be kind for once and give this guy a chance. Here's the advance," he said as he passed the cheque to the anxious agent.
He almost smiled as the blonde's eyes rounded at the amount stated on the cheque.
"Tell him, we need to see the rest of the manuscript within two months before we negotiate royalties and details. And,"he paused as his eyes narrowed menacingly.
"If he plays us for a fool, he'll be poison in this industry. Make sure he understands that."
"I will, I will."
"Good. Now let's think about some preliminary angles, it's based on a real life couple you say..."

Here are my fave food indulgences that helped me get through 2015 with less craziness - ok ok fewer meltdown episodes and I don't mean the melted by the sun weather.
1. Gelato/Sorbet/Ice Cream - Rum and Raisin and Pistachio/Lime Sorbet
2. Caramel Frappe - this is my go to for those mornings when I feel like bashing someone, so that's why I subject myself to pure sugar Starbucks style LOL

Exclusive Preview: Excerpt from Christmas Special
The following is a sequel to deepemerald’s The Affair, an erotic couplings story which should frankly be in the loving wives genre. The cliff-hanger conclusion earned deepemerald quite a bit of flak and eventually a follow up was not pursued. Again, the story had me in knots and the following story is a response.
Thanks to my early readers whose suggestions were great and I’ve tried to incorporate as many as possible. The time sequence for the storyline is as follows:
Christmas Past Terry discovers Julia's affair and has to find a way to cope with it, a band of brothers is formed
Christmas Last - Terry reveals his knowledge of Julia's affair, confrontation ensues and payback is launched
Christmas Present - The Bs are burnt and Terry needs to decide some things, how it all ends after vengeance is had
And before anyone asks, yes, I’m playing a joke vis-à-vis Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Heck, his novels tortured me as a kid and this is my payback :)
A note of caution: There is the possibility of reconciliation, so all averse to reconciliation in LW, please stop reading or rather, don’t start reading, why torture yourself? Everyone else, read on, gulping eggnog simultaneously is optional.
Chapter 1
It happened upon a midnight clear
Christmas Present
Terry sat quietly in the chair next to the fireplace as he sipped the mulled wine he'd ladled after putting the children to bed. His youngest, Chris, had been the most reluctant to retire considering it was really only his second Christmas ever.
It had been a trying year for the couple and the family. They were still in counselling and were still trying to come to terms with the events of the last year that had rocked their family to its very foundations.
Julia stood observing her husband from the entrance of the entertainment room. She shivered as she recalled the events of the last year that started with the words Terry had whispered in her ear regarding his knowledge of her affair with Dan Sullivan and the chain of events that followed. Where she had once taken Terry's quiet manner for mildness and saw no harm possible in him, she now knew better than to mistake his attitude for weakness. The hope that everything could go back to what it was before the affair was what kept her sane through the year that had been. Curious how it had been that the very boring, routine life that had driven her to seek excitement in the arms of another man and to prove her own attractiveness, was now the very thing she wanted more than anything else restored to her. The routine, monotony and obligation which she had been desperate to escape, she now wanted more desperately than ever
I guess you never really appreciate what you have till you lose it.
Her mind chastised itself. The irony was bitter and acerbic.
Terry was silent as Julia sat herself down on the chair next to his and reached over to hold his hand in hers. Her inability to read him after all the years of assuming he was an open book, boring but predictable, made her uncertain and anxious.
That anxiety made her blurt out the question without preamble.
"Is there still a future for us?"
Terry gazed steadily into the fire, his expression unreadable as he recalled the same question posed (to him) by his wife a year ago in pretty much the same spot.

The Dinner Part 2
"As long as you can't get it in your head that I'm not going to screw around with your friends, you're not getting anything from me."
It took quite a bit of determination to pull away from Charlie at that point in time. I told myself that it would be the price to pay for saving our relationship. I guess he was too stunned to react when I pushed him to the door with his jacket in his hands and his shirt and trousers undone.

Responses and The Dinner
Amused and bemused that my fascination with Dumas obsession was so obvious, the dream of reading Dumas in the original French version was a driving force behind my attempts to improve my command of the language. Wasn't sure if readers noticed the archetype, mdoern and diminished but still there!
and Airbag Thanksgiving Absolution
Thoughts on Selena
A) Selena's seduction of Ian was accomplished through her getting him drunk. He didn't even remember the incident . Melissa is no angel but heck, at least she seduced him while he had his senses with him. He was an active participant. Selena's seduction would in other circumstances be substance date rape. She may not be as manipulative as Melissa but she ain't no innocent.
B) She moved into Ian's bed the day after Melissa dies. Ok, putting aside the fact that Melissa was her sister, what heroine/decent lady does that? Not sure if this is what was meant as devoted friend and wife. Frankly, her keeping quiet about Ian's deed is a bit disturbing and I found myself wondering if she meant for it to be a lever. And the fact that she burnt part of Melissa's diary but kept using the information in the other parts to make Ian happy in bed just reinforces the gloating tone of her last words in the original.
I think SS06 left enough room for doubt about Selena's character - a glimpse into her fears and motives for keeping the secrets she kept comes in the part of the original where she acknowledged that she would have lost to Melissa again if Ian had read the diary. It is implied that for all the hurt in the marriage and Ian's professed feelings for her, Ian still loved Melissa.
In a story where none of the characters are shining innocents, I chose this alternative perspective of characters because I wanted to tell an alternative form of the story and I accept whatever feedback there is.
On humour and pleasing the majority
it's not meant to be a horror/gory/slasher flick story but you would think in a category where the cheating wife is meant to be punished unto death, it'd be a horror story just to have her come back don't you ⌒.⌒
Frankly, I'm not posting to win awards or points, just want to write my own version of stories or my own stories. So while feedback is always welcome, I'm never going to play the impossible game - pleasing everybody or at least the majority.
And if you've patiently read this far, here's a tiny reward, a vignette : The Dinner Part 1
Catch the second part later this week!

Airbag Thanksgiving Absolution Conclusion final
And here it is..
"Melissa?"
I ventured tentatively, not quite believing the teenager in front of me was my dead wife. Ok, not so dead wife.
The smiling teen walked up to me, grabbed me in a tight hug and whispered "Missed me much Ian?"
"Wha.." was all I was able to get out before she crushed her soft lips to mine and stuck her tongue into my mouth in a kiss that left me in no doubt that she was Melissa.
The loud crack behind us was what broke the lip lock. When we looked, it appeared that a large crack had appeared across Selena's headstone. Glimpsing the dread written across my face, the girl in my arms giggled as she reassured me.
"Don't worry Ian, she isn't coming back."
"But you did."
"There's a big difference between her and me," she huffed.
"Such as?"
She gave me the evil eye for what she perceived as an insult before explaining.
"Selena's last act before dying was destruction, she died with hatred. That condemned her. She's been taken away for good. There are things beyond this life that I've seen that will make the worst creep out there rethink their behaviour," she said with a shudder.
"When I died, I was filled with remorse and love. I guess that was my saving grace."
My mind was filled with questions which she saw in my eyes. Slinging her arm through mine, she said "Let's go home and get this Thanksgiving dinner. I'll explain everything on the way."
And she did. The girl's real name was Cassandra. Cass had been involved in a horrific accident two years back, which left her in dire need of a heart and cornea transplant. When Melissa was brought in to the hospital, a mix up had her on the operating table and her heart and corneas were given to Cass. Both Cass and Melissa had been standing there and watching the entire operation. To Melissa's surprise, Cass had been hesitant about returning to her body after the operation. Melissa only found out later that Cass had come from a wealthy family and had been in love with a poor boy from the wrong side of town. They had run away together and pretended that she was kidnapped to get money from Cass' father. Unfortunately, their car had crashed while they were trying to evade the police and Cass' father's hired hands. The boy survived with few injuries but Cass was in critical condition until the operation.
While Cass was happy to have survived the accident and operation, she had had the opportunity to observe the people around her who supposedly cared for her. She found out that her estranged mother didn't even bother to visit her, her father only sent money for the medical bills and even her boyfriend was only worried about the ransom money they had stashed before their accident, which he had to abandon when Cass' father set the police on him.
Sickened by the behaviour of her loved ones, Cass refused to return to her body, leaving her body in a coma. While Melissa tried.to persuade Cass to appreciate her second chance at life, she had told Cass her own story. Cass had increasingly sympathised with Melissa and when Melissa had visited her just before the climactic Thanksgiving last year, Cass had offered her the body on the condition that she was to live a good life with me and the kids. No straying or infidelity. That made me smile and Melissa swat me on my arm.
"So do I call you Cassandra from now on?"
"Nope, I had a deed poll done and I'm now Melissa Cassandra Williams. Said I wanted to honour the donor who saved my life." She smirked as she continued, "Can't have my husband screaming someone else's name while he's in me."
Thankfully, I'd pulled up in our driveway by then since I was fairly doubled over with laughter.
I'd thought dinner might be awkward, but I was met with a happy surprise. Though dinner was a little quiet compared to the dramatic turns Thanksgiving dinner had taken the last two years, it went surprisingly well. The kids were quiet when they were introduced to my new friend, Steve surprised everyone by clinging onto Melissa's leg after shyly observing her from his safe position between Piper and the housekeeper. When Melissa took the housekeeper aside just before dinner, I covertly observed the two women. The housekeeper's eyes widened in surprise before she gave Melissa a hug. Both women wiped tears from their eyes before Piper joined them. Piper's reaction mirrored the housekeeper's. She seemed reluctant to leave Melissa's side even when we started dinner.
Even when dinner was over and bedtime approached, the kids reluctantly left her side only after reassurance that she would be there the next day.
I was uncertain where Melissa would sleep that evening, it came as a surprise when she led me unerringly to my bedroom. She laughed at my puzzled look
“I drew a design of my ideal house in the diary so I was hoping that it would be similar. “
Out of politeness I let her use the bathroom first, and was rewarded for being a gentleman when she emerged wrapped in only a short terry towel.
I showered quickly and shaved, ok, so I expected something hey I’m only a man.
As soon as she heard the shower stop, she called out asking me for a razor. I brought one out and watched in fascination as she asked for her bag where she pulled out a bottle of shaving cream. She spread her legs, the towel parting to allow me a delightful eyeful of breasts straining against the tucked in edge of the towel plus long smooth legs and the au naturel mound at the apex of her thighs. Clearing my suddenly dry throat, I asked in a strangled voice if she preferred me to leave the room while she shaved.
“Won’t you help me?” she asked teasingly and pouted.
She covered her mound in cream and then sat back against the pillows piled behind her while I shaved her. As my fingers moved slowly across her lips, trying to shave her without nicking her, her lips swelled and the scent of her arousal rose in the air.
I wasn’t sure how I managed to finish the job. My cock was so hard it hurt. Melissa chuckled and reached out, holding my penis in her warm hand while gently running her palm up and down the length.
“Wait,” I gasped before she could take me in her mouth. “Are you legal?”
“Yes,” she grinned before running the tip of her tongue around the slit of my cock. I couldn’t help groaning.
“Well someone’s happy,” she whispered as she cupped my balls and then attempted to deepthroat me.
“What do you expect after a year of just soft hands and lubricant.
“I know. If you’d been dicking other women, all youd have found at the grave would have been the lyrics to Better In Time.”
“You were watching me?”
“Of course, a girl has to be careful who she gives herself to.”
I grabbed hold of her and never let her go. After all, how could you let go of a loving wife who, after you murdered her, came back to love you.
Thank you to readers who have made it thus far. A computer glitch left me unable to post the original extended version. Will do so soon.
Again a huge thank you to StangStar06 for writing the original story and also DFWBeast whose joke triggered this sequel. Having said that, please direct all negative comments towards me and not either of these authors.
